He led the Tunisian Symphony Orchestra from 1979 to 2010 and also taught at the Higher Institute of Music in Tunisia. His work in music education and orchestral leadership established him as a key figure in the cultural landscape of Tunisia. Achour's influences shaped the contemporary classical music scene in the region until his passing on January 29, 2021.
