Alojzije Jembrih, born on June 11, 1947, in Varaždin, Croatia, is a prominent Croatian literary historian, linguist, Slavist, and philologist. He studied philosophy, art history, and Slavonic studies in Vienna. Jembrih wrote his doctoral dissertation on the 16th-century Kajkavian writer Antun Vramac. He has served as an assistant at the Institute of Old Slavic Language in Zagreb and was a lecturer in Ljubljana from 1983 to 1996. Currently, he teaches Croatian language at a teacher training college in Čakovec and is a professor at the Faculty of Croatian Studies in Zagreb.
