Anton Schurer was a Dutch-Indies veteran born on March 8, 1925, in Groningen. After the liberation of the Netherlands, he was drafted and served in the military in August 1946. He was sent to Dutch-Indies three months later, where he participated in the Politionele Acties, particularly in Sumatra. Schurer continued his service until shortly before the end of the Dutch mission, returning to the Netherlands on January 12, 1950. He was a founding member of the Vereniging Indië-Militairen Groningen and served on its board from 1988 till 2009, passing away on February 9, 2018.
