Aslanbek Zakharovich Dzgoev was a Soviet freestyle wrestler born on March 18, 1918, in Olginskoye, Terek Oblast. He was a three-time champion of the RSFSR in 1951, 1952, and 1954, and a bronze medalist at the USSR championship in 1952. Dzgoev was awarded the title of Honored Master of Sports in 1955 and became an Honored Coach of the USSR in 1957, as well as a judge of the all-Union category in 1958. He is recognized as the founder of the Ossetian school of freestyle wrestling.
