José Manuel Martínez Aguirre was a Valencian politician born in 1923 in Pobla de Rocamora and passed away in 2013 in Alacant. After moving to Alacant in 1940, he studied law and worked as a journalist for various publications. He became the director of the Information and Press Service of the Vertical Syndicate in 1970. He served as a councilor for Alacant in 1973, later becoming the mayor in 1976. He also joined the Popular Party in Alicante and was elected again in 1983 before not seeking reelection in 1987.
