Kenneth Macpherson (1902-1971) was a Scottish-born novelist, photographer, critic, and filmmaker. He was the son of the painter John 'Pop' Macpherson and Clara Macpherson, belonging to a lineage of artists. His influence on cinematography was recognized posthumously when his innovative work, despite being limited in quantity, was rediscovered. Macpherson was a co-founder of the Pool Group and established the important film journal Close Up, noted for its advanced subject matter and techniques that were ahead of their time.
