Luís Alberto Proença Simões da Silva, born on January 24, 1962, is a distinguished Professor of Structural Mechanics at the University of Coimbra in Portugal. He holds the position of head of the Civil Engineering Department and serves as the director of the Institute for Sustainability and Innovation in Structural Engineering. This research centre is financed by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology and was rated as excellent in 2014. Additionally, he is the president of the Portuguese Steelwork Association (cmm).
