Madisetti Anant Ramlu (1927-2023) was a noted Indian academic and the founder of the Mining Engineering Department at IIT Kharagpur. He served from 1958 to 1987 and was recognized as an expert in mine safety and machinery. Ramlu earned his BS in Mining & Metallurgy from Banaras Hindu University and his PhD from Germany. He was married to Saroja and had two sons, both distinguished in their respective fields. In 2009, he received the S. K. Bose Memorial Teaching Excellence Award, reflecting his significant contributions to education.
