Mahmoud Ahmad al-Sayyid (March 14, 1903 - December 10, 1937) was an Iraqi novelist, journalist, and translator. He is considered a pioneer of Arabic novel writing in Iraq, concurrently with Mahmoud Taymour in Egypt. He had a keen interest in modern Turkish literature, translating works by authors like Jalal Nuri and Ziya Gökalp. His first work, a short novel titled 'In the Way of Marriage,' was published in March 1921. Both he and Mahmoud Taymour are significant figures studied in Iraq's sixth preparatory grade for their contributions to modern literary history.
