Noriko Matsumoto is a Japanese tanka poet born on February 6, 1970, in Kamogawa, Chiba. She graduated from the National Language and Literature Department at Waseda University after attending Awa High School. Beginning her tanka journey in 1997, she joined the tanka group Karinn and trained under Akiko Baba. Matsumoto received several accolades for her work, including the Karinn Prize and the Kadokawa Tanka Prize. In 2003, her first collection 'Ibitsuna Kajitsu' won the Modern Tanka Newcomer Prize. She is a member of the Modern Tanka Poet Association.
