He became the 12th Duke following his father's death on 3 May 2004. Previously, he held the titles Earl of Burlington from 1944-1950 and Marquess of Hartington from 1950-2004. His family owns Chatsworth House and possesses considerable wealth, with an estimated net worth of £910 million, along with extensive estates in Derbyshire, North Yorkshire, and Ireland.
