Rajagopalan Krishnamurthy, born March 27, 1928, is an esteemed Indian cotton researcher and plant breeder. He is known for introducing multiple cotton varieties for commercial cultivation, having released six varieties from G. Hirsutum, two from G. Barbadense, and three hybrids. His tenure includes a decade at the Tamil Nadu Department of Agriculture and nearly 28 years at the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). His educational background includes a B.Sc. and an M.Sc. in plant breeding and genetics from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, and he currently serves as Research Director - Cotton at Rasi Seeds Pvt. Ltd.
