Robert F. Busbey (1928-2000) was a prominent athletic director and head swimming coach at Cleveland State University. He led the athletics department from 1966 to 1990 and coached swimming for 30 years, also overseeing track and golf teams. He was appointed assistant coach for the 1964 USA Olympic swim team and chaired the NCAA Swimming Committee. In recognition of his contributions, the CSU Natatorium was renamed in his honor in 1999, and he was recognized as a pioneering athlete with multiple accolades, including All-American honors.
