Ronald Charles Newman was a British physicist known for his expertise in semiconductors. He completed his undergraduate studies in physics at Imperial College in 1952 and earned his PhD in 1955. He worked at AEI on single-crystal silicon from 1955 to 1963 and then joined the University of Reading in 1964. Newman held various academic roles, including associate director of the Semiconductor Materials Interdisciplinary Research Centre at Imperial College. He was elected a Fellow of the Institute of Physics in 1971 and a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1998.
