Takashi Saitō is a Japanese admiral born on February 11, 1948, in Yokosuka, Kanagawa. He served as the Chief of Staff of the Japan Self-Defense Forces from August 4, 2006, to March 24, 2009. He succeeded General Hajime Massaki and was later succeeded by General Ryōichi Oriki. His leadership played a significant role in the restructuring and modernization of Japan's defense capabilities during his term.
