Kittleman until his death in 2004 and ran for County Council in 1978, though unsuccessfully. Kittleman is stepmother to Allan H. Kittleman, a former state senator and Howard County executive. After losing her re-election in 2022, she pursued education advocacy with Moms for Liberty Howard County and authored a book empowering women in their careers.
