Dr. Želmíra Gašparíková was a Slovak linguist, librarian, and bibliographer born on January 18, 1901, in Martin and passed away on December 15, 1966, in Prague. She studied Slovak philology and comparative linguistics at Charles University in Prague from 1920 to 1925, and at the Sorbonne in Paris from 1925 to 1926. She led the Slavic Library in Prague from 1945 to 1948. Her notable works include a Slovak-Czech dictionary and editing works related to Martin Kukučín. She was the sister of Anna Horáková-Gašparíková, the personal archivist of president Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk.
