Encarnación, also known as Ehnkarnas'on, is a city located in the Itapúa Department of Paraguay, on the banks of the Paraná River, across from the city of Posadas, Argentina. The city has a humid subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers and mild, dry winters. Encarnación was founded in 1615 by Spanish Jesuit missionaries and played a significant role in the Paraguayan War (1864-1870). Today, it is a major economic and cultural center in southern Paraguay, known for its vibrant nightlife, beautiful beaches, and historic architecture.
