Dodge City, also known as "Dodzh-siti" or "Додж-сити," is a city in the southwestern part of the U.S. state of Kansas, located at the confluence of the Arkansas River and the Cimarron River. It has a semi-arid climate with hot summers and cold winters. The city was founded in 1872 as a supply point for buffalo hunters and became a major cattle town on the Chisholm Trail. Today, Dodge City is a regional trade center for agriculture and manufacturing and is known for its rich Western heritage and historical landmarks.
