Mariinsk, a city in Kemerovo Oblast, Russia, is located on the Kiya River, at the intersection of the Trans-Siberian Railway and the R255 highway. With a population of around 40,000, Mariinsk has a humid continental climate, with cold winters and warm summers. The city was founded in 1891 as a station on the Trans-Siberian Railway and named after Empress Maria Feodorovna. Mariinsk is home to several historical and cultural landmarks, including the Church of the Intercession, the Mariinsk Local History Museum, and the Mariinsk Drama Theater.
