Talence is a commune in the Gironde department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of southwestern France. It is located in the urban area of Bordeaux, 4.5 km from the city center, and is part of the Bordeaux Métropole. The city has a humid subtropical climate, with mild winters and hot summers. The average annual temperature is 13°C, and the average annual rainfall is 870 mm. Talence was first mentioned in the 11th century, and it became a commune in 1790. The city is home to the University of Bordeaux, which was founded in 1441, and the Talence Town Hall, which was built in the 19th century.
