Blue Sapphire – Uses, Benefits & Who Should Wear

The Blue sapphire is a Blue glassy gemstone with a rating of 9 on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness. It is part of the Corundum mineral family where you have sapphires, but the Blue sapphire is special as it is known to be the most powerful and fastest acting gemstone in vedic astrology. It is also known as the Neelam stone and when mined, this sapphires traces of cobalt which is believed to affect its colour.

Uses

Because of their high durability and strength, Blue sapphires are used for many things, the most popular one being watches (Swiss timepieces), even Apple uses the blue sapphire for their watches (no wonder they are so expensive). You can also find blue sapphire used in high durability windows and scientific instruments.

Part of the reasons why the blue sapphire is popular is because of its versatile nature, is known to bring instant wealth, fame and success in the wearer’s life, but it also protects from theft and accidents. And it doesn’t stop there, Blue sapphire is also worn to heal neurological disorders and nerve related issues.

How to select Blue sapphire 

Because of the fast acting power of the Blue sapphire you don’t want to make a mistake when selecting one to wear. You have to be sure of the quality of the stone that you are getting. Some stores may allow you to tie the stone against your skin and take it home for 3 days to test if it works with your chakra, or if it is original and will give you what you desire. If it acts negatively within the three days, then you have to drop it, but if it brings favours and cash gifts to you, then it is original and will do you good over a long period of time.

But there are other things to consider when selecting the Blue sapphire as well. You need at least 3 to 6 carats of Blue sapphire for astrological use, and you should know that due to its dense nature, a small size of blue sapphire may weigh the same with a diamond of a bigger size. Also, more transparency means higher value, so check for that. How to wear Blue sapphire 

Blue sapphire is not just a beautiful stone for its looks, it also accommodates everyone no matter what zodiac sign you are born under, you can wear the Blue Sapphire to gain the positive effects of Saturn. Like the emerald, Blue sapphire can have any blemishes or inclusions but they cannot be too much if it is to be used for astrological purposes. The best metal to be worn with it is silver but some astrologers also recommend gold, and it must be worn on Saturday of Krishna Paksha (waning moon) in the middle finger of the right hand, at sunset.

But as with other gemstones, there is a process to prepare the ring for wearing; You need to dip the ring in a mixture of Ganga Jal, Tulsi leaves (Indian Basil), raw cow milk, honey and Ghee (clarified butter). Please note that this mixture must be made in a metal bowl. After that, you need to recite the Shani Mantra “Om Shan Shanishcharay Namah” 108 times to activate the ring. 

And when you wear the ring, it would be wise to let it touch your skin. Some ladies prefer to wear the ue sapphire as a pendant on a necklace, this is good also.
