Quebracho is a town in the Paysandú Department of Uruguay. It is located on the banks of the Queguay River, 282 kilometers (175 miles) northwest of Montevideo. The town has a population of about 3,000 people. The climate is temperate, with average temperatures ranging from 10°C (50°F) in winter to 25°C (77°F) in summer. The town was founded in 1831 by General Fructuoso Rivera. It was named after the quebracho tree, which is native to the area. The town has a rich history and heritage, and is home to several historical landmarks, including the Church of San Pedro and the Museum of Quebracho.
