Tottori is a coastal city on the Sea of Japan in the Chugoku region of Honshu, Japan. The city is known for its sand dunes, which are among the largest in Japan. Tottori has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and cool, dry winters. The city has a long history, dating back to the Nara period (710-794). Tottori was once the capital of the San'in region and was an important port city during the Edo period (1603-1868).
