Jinghong, formerly known as Chiang Hung, is a city located in the southern part of Yunnan Province, China, near the border with Laos and Myanmar. It has a tropical monsoon climate with an average annual temperature of 21.5°C (70.7°F) and an average annual rainfall of 1,500 mm (59.1 in). The city has a long history dating back to the 13th century and was once the capital of the Tai Lue kingdom. Jinghong is known for its natural beauty, including the nearby Xishuangbanna National Nature Reserve, and its rich cultural heritage, including the Dai people, who make up the majority of the population.
