Kurume is a city located in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, approximately 20 kilometers southwest of the city of Fukuoka. It is situated on the Chikugo Plain and has a humid subtropical climate with hot summers and mild winters. The city has a rich history and heritage, having been founded in the 16th century as a castle town and later becoming a major center of the textile industry.
