Mocímboa da Praia, or Mocímboa, is a town in northern Mozambique, situated on the Indian Ocean coast at the mouth of the Mocímboa River. The town has a tropical climate with average temperatures ranging from 22 to 32 degrees Celsius throughout the year. Mocímboa has a rich history, having been founded by the Portuguese in the 16th century and later becoming a major trading center for ivory and slaves. The town's heritage is reflected in its colonial architecture, including the Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Conceição, which was built in the 17th century.
