Vila da Ribeira Brava, also known as Ribeira Brava, is a town on the island of São Nicolau, Cape Verde, located on the western coast at the mouth of the Ribeira Brava river. The town has a tropical climate with an average temperature of 26°C (79°F) and an average annual rainfall of 250 mm (10 in). Ribeira Brava was founded in the 15th century by Portuguese settlers and was once an important port for the export of sugar and other agricultural products. Today, the town is a popular tourist destination for its beautiful beaches, its colonial architecture, and its traditional Cape Verdean culture.
