Vila de Porto Santo, also known as Porta Santa, is a town on the island of Porto Santo, in the Madeira Archipelago, Portugal. It is located on the southwestern coast of the island, at the mouth of the Ribeira da Serra do Porto Santo, and has a population of around 4,500. The weather in Vila de Porto Santo is subtropical, with average temperatures ranging from 18°C in January to 25°C in August. The town was founded in 1418 by João Gonçalves Zarco and Tristão Vaz Teixeira, who discovered the island while sailing from Madeira to the Azores. Vila de Porto Santo has a rich history and heritage, with many historical buildings and landmarks, including the Igreja Matriz de Nossa Senhora da Piedade, the Capela de São Pedro, and the Museu do Porto Santo.
