Yuba City, California, is located in the northern part of the Sacramento Valley, at the confluence of the Feather and Yuba Rivers. The city has a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. Yuba City was founded in 1849 during the California Gold Rush and was originally called "Sutterville" after John Sutter, who owned the land where the city was built. The city's name was changed to "Yuba City" in 1851.
