D9 Navamsa Divisional Chart

D9 Navamsa Chart is a divisional chart used in Vedic astrology to understand the deeper aspects of a person’s life. It represents the marital life, relationships, and the “fruits” in this lifetime. Number 9 symbolises end of cycle, in that context, the D1 chart shows the promises (or the lack thereof) of people and experiences and the D 9 divisional chart helps assessing the strength of such promises.

The Navamsa is calculated by dividing each Rashi or zodiac sign into 9 equal parts, thus forming a total of 108 Navamsas. The placement of planets and other celestial bodies in the Navamsa chart are used to determine the strength and influence of various aspects of a person’s life, and to make predictions about future events and relationships.

नवांशेशाश्चरे तस्मात्स्थिरे तन्नवमादितः ।
उभये तत्पञ्चमादेरिति चिन्त्यं विचक्षणौः ।
देवा नृराक्षसाश्चैव चरादिषु गृहेषु च ॥ १२॥
Brihat Parasara Hora Sastra, Chapter 6, verse 12.

Translation: The Nine parts of a zodiac sign start with itself for a movable sign, for a fixed sign from the 9th thereof, and for a dual sign from the 5th thereof. Their deities are Gods, Humans, and Demons in successive and repetitive order for a moveable sign. (Humans, Demons, and Gods are the order for a fixed sign while Demons, Humans, and Gods are the dual sign's order.)
