Strafford, Missouri, is a small town in Greene County with a population of around 2,000. It is located in the south-central part of the state, about 15 miles south of Springfield. The climate is humid subtropical, with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Strafford was founded in 1870 by the Kansas City, Fort Scott and Gulf Railroad. The town was named after George H. Strafford, a railroad official. Strafford is home to the Strafford Museum, which houses a collection of artifacts from the town's history.
