Ware Shoals is a town in Abbeville and Laurens counties in South Carolina, United States. The town is located at the confluence of the Saluda and Little Saluda rivers, approximately 70 miles (110 km) northwest of Columbia, the state capital. Ware Shoals has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters. The town was founded in 1844 and was named after the nearby Ware Shoals Falls. The town's economy was once based on cotton and textile manufacturing, but has since diversified to include other industries such as tourism and manufacturing. Ware Shoals is home to several historic sites, including the Ware Shoals Historic District and the Ware Shoals Opera House.
