Dumbarton, also known as Dambarton, is a town in West Dunbartonshire, Scotland, located on the north bank of the River Clyde, approximately 15 miles (24 km) northwest of Glasgow. The town has a long history, dating back to the Roman period, and is home to Dumbarton Castle, a medieval fortress that was once the capital of the Kingdom of Strathclyde. The town's climate is temperate, with mild winters and warm summers.
