Ridder, formerly known as Leninogorsk, is a city located in the East Kazakhstan Region of Kazakhstan, near the border with Russia. It is situated at 50.3550000 latitude and 83.5133300 longitude in the Almaty time zone. The city has a population of around 48,000 and is known for its mining industry, particularly for the extraction of polymetallic ores. The city was founded in 1786 as a mining settlement and was named after the Russian revolutionary Vladimir Lenin in 1941. In 1991, the city was renamed Ridder. The city's climate is humid continental, with cold winters and warm summers. The average temperature in January is -17.3°C (0.9°F), while the average temperature in July is 19.3°C (66.7°F).
