Friedewald, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany

Friedewald is a municipality in the Westerwaldkreis district, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is located in the central part of the district, about 10 km north of Montabaur and 20 km east of Koblenz. The municipality has a population of around 1,000 people. The average temperature in Friedewald is 10°C, and the average precipitation is 800 mm. The municipality was first mentioned in a document from 1240. It was part of the County of Nassau until 1806, when it became part of the Duchy of Nassau. In 1866, the Duchy of Nassau was annexed by Prussia. Friedewald is home to a number of historical buildings, including the 13th-century St. Martin's Church and the 16th-century town hall.
