Salzburg is a municipality in the Westerwaldkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is located in the Westerwald, approximately 10 km east of Montabaur and 15 km west of Limburg an der Lahn. The average annual temperature is 8.5 °C and the average annual precipitation is 725 mm. The municipality was first mentioned in 1247 and was granted town rights in 1332. The town is home to a number of historical buildings, including the Schloss Salzburg, the Stadtkirche and the Rathaus.
