Ālbū Kamāl is a city in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria, near the Iraqi border. The city has a hot desert climate, with average temperatures ranging from 10°C to 35°C throughout the year. Ālbū Kamāl has a rich history, dating back to the ancient Akkadian period. The city was once a major center of the Umayyad Caliphate and was later ruled by the Mongols, Mamluks, and Ottomans. In the 20th century, Ālbū Kamāl was a major center of the Syrian Ba'ath Party and was the site of several battles during the Syrian Civil War.
