Nikopol' is a city in the Dnipropetrovska Oblast of Ukraine, located on the right bank of the Dnieper River, opposite the city of Marhanets. The city has a humid continental climate with warm summers and cold winters. Nikopol' was founded in 1639 as a fortress by the Cossacks and was later incorporated into the Russian Empire. The city is known for its shipbuilding and metallurgy industries.
