Big Flats is a town in Chemung County, New York, United States, located at 42.1373° N, 76.9369° W. The town has a humid continental climate with warm, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Big Flats was first settled in 1791 by John Arnot, who built a gristmill on the Chemung River. The town was incorporated in 1822.
