Candelo is a small town in the province of Biella, in the Piedmont region of northwestern Italy. It is located on the banks of the Cervo River, at the foot of the Alps. The town has a population of around 7,000 people. The climate is humid subtropical, with hot summers and cold winters. Candelo was first mentioned in a document in 999 AD, and it was a fief of the Bishops of Vercelli. In the 13th century, Candelo became a free commune, and it remained independent until 1427, when it was conquered by the Savoyards. Candelo is home to several historical monuments, including the Church of San Lorenzo, which was built in the 12th century, and the Castle of the Counts of Biandrate, which was built in the 14th century.
