Escárcega, Campeche, Mexico, also known as Francisco Escárcega, is a city located at latitude 18.6089100 and longitude -90.7454400 in the southeastern part of the country. The city experiences a tropical climate with an average temperature of 27°C (80°F) throughout the year. Escárcega was founded in 1890 as a railway stop on the line between Mexico City and Mérida, and it has since grown into a major commercial and industrial center. The city is home to a number of historical and cultural landmarks, including the Church of San José and the Escárcega Municipal Museum.
