Fang is a district (amphoe) in Chiang Mai Province, northern Thailand. It is located in the mountainous region of the province, bordering Myanmar to the north and Laos to the east. The weather in Fang is characterized by hot and humid summers and cool and dry winters. The history of Fang dates back to the 13th century when it was a major trading center between the Lanna Kingdom and the Burmese kingdom of Ava. Fang is home to several historical and cultural sites, including the Wat Phra That Chom Thong, a 15th-century temple that houses a sacred Buddha image.
