Gibellina, Sicily, Italy, formerly known as Gibellina, is a town in the Province of Trapani. It is located in the southwestern part of the island, at an altitude of 230 meters above sea level. The town has a Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. Gibellina was founded in the 13th century and was destroyed by an earthquake in 1968. The town was rebuilt in a new location, about 10 kilometers from the original site. The new town is a modern, planned community with a population of about 4,000 people. Gibellina is known for its wine production and its annual Grape Festival.
