Rosignano Monferrato, Piedmont, Italy

Rosignano Monferrato is a comune in the Province of Alessandria in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 70 kilometers east of Turin and about 30 kilometers southwest of Alessandria. The town has a population of about 1,700 and is known for its medieval castle, its Romanesque church, and its wine production. The climate is temperate, with hot summers and cold winters. The town was founded in the 10th century and was ruled by the Aleramici family until the 13th century, when it passed to the Marquises of Montferrat. In the 16th century, it was conquered by the Spanish and became part of the Duchy of Milan. In the 18th century, it was ceded to the Kingdom of Sardinia and became part of the Kingdom of Italy in 1861.
