Rozay-en-Brie, formerly known as Rozoy, is a commune in the Seine-et-Marne department in the Île-de-France region in north-central France. It is located 50 km (31 mi) southeast of Paris and 20 km (12 mi) east of Melun. The climate is temperate, with mild winters and warm summers. The town was first mentioned in a document in 1172. In the 13th century, it became a fief of the Counts of Champagne. In the 16th century, it was acquired by the Dukes of Guise. The town was heavily damaged during the Wars of Religion. In the 19th century, it became a center of the Brie cheese industry. Today, Rozay-en-Brie is a popular tourist destination, known for its cheese, its historic buildings, and its beautiful countryside.
