Ulysses is a city in Grant County, Kansas, United States. It is located at 37.5814100°N 101.3551700°W in the High Plains region of the state. The city has a population of 6,161 (2020) and is the county seat of Grant County. Ulysses was founded in 1872 by a group of settlers from Ohio. The city is named after Ulysses S. Grant, the 18th President of the United States. Ulysses has a humid continental climate with hot, humid summers and cold, dry winters. The city is home to several historical sites, including the Ulysses Depot Museum and the Grant County Historical Society Museum.
