Xingsha, also known as Xing sha, is a district of Changsha City, Hunan Province, China. It is located in the northeast of Changsha, on the east bank of the Xiang River. The weather in Xingsha is humid subtropical, with average temperatures ranging from 16°C (61°F) in January to 29°C (84°F) in July. Xingsha has a long history, dating back to the Qin dynasty (221-206 BC). It was an important military and commercial center during the Song dynasty (960-1279). Xingsha is home to a number of historical and cultural sites, including the Yuelu Academy, the oldest academy in China, and the Changsha Museum, which houses a large collection of artifacts from the region.
