Ramsen is a municipality in the Donnersbergkreis district, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is situated in the northern part of the Palatinate Forest, at an elevation of 360 meters (1,180 feet) above sea level. The municipality's location in the rain shadow of the Palatinate Forest results in a relatively dry climate, with an average annual precipitation of 600 millimeters (24 inches). Ramsen's history dates back to the 12th century, when it was first mentioned in a document from the Abbey of Otterberg. The municipality's heritage is reflected in its numerous historical buildings, including the Protestant church, which dates back to the 15th century, and the town hall, which was built in the 18th century.
