San Leandro, California, is a city in Alameda County, located on the eastern shore of San Francisco Bay, approximately 10 miles southeast of Oakland. The city has a Mediterranean climate, with warm, dry summers and mild, wet winters. The area was originally inhabited by the Ohlone people, and the city was founded in 1852 by José Joaquín Estudillo, who named it after Saint Leander of Seville. San Leandro has a diverse population and is home to a variety of businesses, including manufacturing, retail, and healthcare. The city is also known for its parks and recreational opportunities, including the San Leandro Marina and the Bay Trail.
